Job Description
Under the direction of a HEDS Executive Director, the Senior Principal Scientist, Health Economics leads a team of health economists and outcomes researchers to develop health economic models and conduct economic analyses for vaccines to enable the company to understand and communicate the full economic value of our Company products and demonstrate the economic value of vaccines to payers, health technology agencies, National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NITAG), and payers in order to optimize market access and patient outcomes.
Main Responsibilities:
Lead a team in HEDS to develop and implement health economic models and analyses to demonstrate the value of our Company vaccines.
Lead, manage, mentor, and provide strategic direction to a team of 4–6 health economists and outcomes researchers.
Accountable for team prioritization and development of high-quality health economic models and tools to support market access, pricing, reimbursement, HTA, NITAG recommendations in US and ex-US markets.
Oversee team collaboration with our Company's key markets to adapt global health economic models to local markets for HTA, reimbursement and formulary submissions.
Contribute to the team’s support of development and commercialization strategies for products in development through early health economic insights.
Build effective working relationships with the cross-functional team leads and product development team value evidence leads to ensure that health economic modeling and analytic strategy and plan fully reflect payer/HTA requirements
Develop a deep understanding of value evidence needs and ensure delivery of health economic models and tools that are responsive and strongly supportive of the value evidence strategy.
Develop effective relationships with external thought leaders in health economics, decision sciences, and health policy so as to maintain an extensive understanding of external environment, create opportunities for engagement, and to establish our Company as a leader in the field.
Education Minimum Requirement:
Masters in a quantitatively oriented discipline such as health economics, mathematical epidemiology, applied mathematics, operations research, public health, and statistics
PhD (preferred)
Required Experience and Skills:
Experience in the design and development of health economic modeling approaches to enable internal and external decisions
Experience in the design and analysis of mathematical models of infectious diseases and vaccination
Experience managing research teams
Excellent organizational and communication skills (oral and written)
Ability to work independently and effectively interact with a broad group of stakeholders
Ability to balance multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work under pressure
Strong record of research publications in peer-reviewed journals
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Advanced knowledge of economic evaluation and cost-effectiveness analysis.
Extensive experience in scientific computing and programming with software such as Mathematica, MATLAB, Python, or C++.
