We are hiring an Engineering Manager to lead our Joining Group, focusing on advanced metal welding technologies, within the Advance Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team. In this role, you will lead a talented team and play a critical part in developing innovative equipment and processes that enable world-class manufacturing operations and power life-saving medical devices.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead a team of engineers and technicians focused on the design, development, and implementation of metal joining equipment and processes, supporting new technologies, increased capacity, and equipment replacement

  • Drive innovation in welding processes and equipment to ensure robust, scalable, and efficient manufacturing solutions

  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including process development, quality, and operations, to ensure seamless integration of equipment and processes into production environments

  • Coordinate activities with external suppliers and integrators to ensure timely delivery and acceptable functionality of equipment and services

  • Develop sustainable processes for equipment design and implementation, ensuring scalability for future production needs

  • Oversee the investigation and evaluation of emerging technologies in metal joining, identifying opportunities to implement innovative solutions

  • Ensure compliance with Medtronic’s quality systems and regulatory standards throughout all phases of equipment and process development

  • Cultivate a winning team culture by fostering collaboration, inclusivity, and mutual respect. Inspires and motivates team members to achieve shared goals while promoting innovation, creativity, and a sense of fun in the workplace to maintain high morale and engagement.

  • Mentor and coach team members, providing opportunities for professional growth and development.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of relevant experience

OR

  • Advanced degree with 3 years of relevant experience.

Nice to Have

  • Experience developing equipment and processes for regulated industries, such as medical devices, aerospace, or automotive

  • Understanding of process validation and IQ/OQ/PQ requirements for equipment in a regulated environment.

  • Familiarity with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles

  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams, including quality, supply chain, and operations, to ensure successful equipment implementation

  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage projects across multiple teams and locations

  • Experience in metal joining technologies, as well as ablation and cutting processes, including methods such as laser, resistance, and ultrasonic welding

  • Knowledge of medical device manufacturing standards, including ISO 13485, FDA regulations, and GMP practices

  • Ability to evaluate emerging technologies and apply them to manufacturing challenges
