Senior Lab Technician

The Opportunity:
In this role, you will report to the Supervisor, Onsite Services and will work closely with the Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team of over 1,500 on- and off-site expert personnel – and our customers – to perform customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.
Location: Cambridge, MA
Shift: Mon – Fri, ~7:30 am – 4 pm
Wage Range: ~$27 - 28 per hour
Sign-on Bonus: $1000, Pays out after 30 days employment.

What we’re looking for:
High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in analytical chemistry preferred.
3+ years of lab environment work experience or college degree in analytical chemistry required.
Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel skills required.
A detailed understanding and ability to operate in an aseptic environment.
Generalized understanding of health and safety hazards in the presence of caustics and acids.
Background and experience in using pipettes, pH meters, conductivity meters, densitometers, and spectrophotometers.
An understanding of general chemistry techniques including the following: Molar mass, density, weighing and dispensing, filtration, titrations.
Excellent time management, communication, and organization skills.
High level of customer service skills with the ability to always display a professional can-do demeanor.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet goals.
Must be flexible, forward- thinking, motivated, and have the confidence to solve problems independently.
Conform to all customer requirements for background checks, safety issues, security clearances and medical checkups.
Perform duties with the highest regard for safety and quality.

Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support.
In this role you will:
Execute routine laboratory support procedures and preparations (e.g. media/buffer prep, solvent/reagent mixtures, filtrations, material weighing, some physical testing, witness senior staff experiments).
Prepare required documentation.
Manage consumables inventory needed to process requests for media and buffer solutions as well as chemical reagents, glassware, and gas cylinder levels.
Maintain organization/lab cleanliness of work areas.
Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Assists with the calibration, trouble shooting, and validation of lab equipment.
Maintains laboratory notebook, testing records, or worksheets according to established laboratory and manufacturing procedures.
Execute routine laboratory support procedures and preparations (e.g. media/buffer prep, solvent/reagent mixtures, filtrations, material weighing, some physical testing, witness senior staff experiments).
Maintain lab inventory and labeling.
Verify/Maintain laboratory equipment (e.g. balances, pH meters, sonicator cleaning, glass washing).
Other duties as assigned.
