Overall Responsibilities for Weekend Activity Programmers:

  • Implement activity programs on units when the regular programmer is not present or help as needed or as assigned.
  • Help plan and carry out unit/facility wide activities as needed.
  • Provide  one-on-one visits for all residents who have not attended group  activities.
  • Assist residents working on individual projects including crafts, writing letters, reading, etc.
  • Complete documentation of recreation activities to assure compliance with all related local, State, Federal or Hooverwood regulations, whichever standard is higher, regarding MDS 3.0 assessments, attendance, and progress notes.
  • Help with scheduling monthly activities such as, booking entertainment, researching and finding new and innovative activities/entertainment, creating monthly calendar, assist with staff scheduling, etc.

Requirements

 

Qualifications for Weekend Activity Programmers:

  • Must  have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
  • Experience working with a geriatric population preferred.
  • General knowledge of computers and Windows required.
  • Must have the ability to interact with people in a positive and upbeat manner. 
  • Posses strong customer service skill
  • Posses compassion for the elderly

Physical Requirements for Weekend Activity Programmers:

  •  Must function effectively under timelines and multiple demands.
  •  Must be able to fully and effectively communicate orally, understand and have the ability to write and type.
  • Must be able to read normal print/script and computer generated type.
  •  Must have the ability to hear effectively
  • Must have full use of both arms and legs.
  • Must be ambulatory
  • Must be able to push/pull residents in a wheelchair without assistance
