Housekeeper

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for cleaning, interiors, and equipment at the surgical center.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

1. High school graduate or equivalent.

Experience:

1. General experience and background in the cleaning of public buildings.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

1. Capable of understanding the difference between sterile, clean, contaminated, and normal use areas.
2. Able to prepare cleaning solutions, work in the assigned areas of the surgical center, and follow directives with minimal supervision.
3. Ability to work well with others.

License/Certification/Registration:

None

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Receives direct supervision from the MNMC Housekeeping Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Assures that the surgical center’s interior and objects are cleaned and maintained.
2. Mops floors, washes walls, and cleans counters, tables, carts, some equipment, and office /registration/patient room furniture.
3. Ensures a clean and sterile environment by following housekeeping schedules. Receives daily instructions, and guidance from housekeeping supervisor.
4. Gathers trash and soiled linens, transporting them to a disposal area.
5. Understands gowning procedure and basic grooming perimeters to clean the Operating Rooms (Ex. hair must be covered in the Operating Rooms; wear gloves when indicate; correct traffic patterns).
6. Monitors inventory, orders, and maintains supplies as needed with Materials Manager.
7. Cleans and empties the kitchen refrigerator each Friday.
8. Cleans carpets in registration area, and strips and waxes floors as needed (given training to specifically be able to perform this task).

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Performs related and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
