About the Role:
The Senior Methods & Manufacturing Engineer will create and develop manufacturing process flows, also create and maintain shop floor documents, generate work instructions to support build modules, create and maintain work orders, and obtain customer requirements and deadlines. This Engineer will also review drawings and specifications as part of the design review and release process.
What You Will Do:
- Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve manufacturing processes or products or to reduce costs, using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts.
- Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness.
- Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing.
- Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes.
- Determine root causes of failures or recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods, using statistical procedures.
- Prepare documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures.Estimate labor, material, or construction costs for budget preparation purposes.
- Read and interpret 2D and 3D engineering data.
- Develop TuSimple’s manufacturing and assembly process.
What You Will Need:
- Ability to work at TuSimple’s Tucson Facility is needed.
- At least a Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- Experience:
- At least 6 years of directly related experience as an Engineer is required.
- Design for Manufacturing (DFMA) Engineering Methodology is required.
- Engineering and Technology: Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, and ability to apply principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
- Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and Maintenance.
- Complex Problem Solving: Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
What Is Preferred:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or in Industrial Engineering is highly preferred.
