About the role

MERCHANDISE ANALYST -Remote



General Summary
The Merchandise Analyst partners with all functional areas in the enterprise by leading and developing high-impact, influential analysis utilized for go-forward direction, strategic business decisions and insight into current and future trends. The scope of work includes leading short term and long term analysis, key initiative reporting, ad-hoc analysis, business process development/support and potentially a direct report. The Merchandise Analyst collaborates as a creative thought partner who initiates intentional, thoughtful and timely analysis that supports and guides the strategy of DSW.


Reports to:  Director DSW Analytics


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Understand customer requirements and data availability 
•    Expertise across multi-disciplines within the area
•    Collaborate with key business partners to identify and develop ad-hoc analysis
•    Influence and interpret analytic questions to be answered
•    Provide succinct, audience-adapted analysis
•    Develop accurate reporting and analysis on agreed timelines
•    Engage peers and/or supervisor to overcome obstacles to ensure timelines are met
•    Develop and present analysis supporting strategic initiatives and/or big idea questions
•    Produce assigned reporting and analysis in a timely and accurate fashion


Required Skills:
•    Highly developed analytical skills including application of retail mathematics/statistics
•    Ability to translate conclusions from individual contributor to executive audiences
•    Strong organizational skills & ability to manage multiple tasks/projects at once
•    Proven track record of managing multi-data sources to draw conclusions
•    Effective personal communication
•    Proficient with Microsoft Office; strong Excel skills including Power Pivot

Minimum Experience:
•    3+ years in corporate retail in MP&A, Buying, Marketing, or Finance roles


Preferred Qualifications:
•    Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
