North Wind Services is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the science, technology, and engineering fields as part of our supplemental labor team at vital federal research and development installations supporting the Department of Energy. Successful candidates will be employees of NWS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA. Though employed by NWS, the employee will take day-to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratories. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management functions are provided by NWS.
The Computing Department has an opening for a IT Technical Communications Specialist to support the Information Technology Operations Division. The successful candidate will be a member of the Livermore Information Technology (LivIT) Program, partnering with the Deputy CIO for Cloud Transformation, you will be providing specialized communication support for Cloud Services. The successful candidate will deliver technical analysis and support in the development and implementation of cloud-focused communication projects, plans, campaigns, and training content.
This position may require the successful candidate have the flexibility to work overtime, shift and or weekends to accomplish goals. The successful candidate will be required to pass various on-site training modules to pursue work assignments.
Essential Duties
- Develop comprehensive cloud-focused, communication-specific project plans, including scope, objectives, timelines, milestones, and resource allocations.
- Develop original content, identify appropriate media platforms e.g., Websites/Portals, Training Coursework, Newsline articles, various physical media, emails and coordinate through final quality check, publishing, and distribution, cloud-related information to maximize understanding and improve adoption and assimilation of targeted key messages and objectives.
- Independently manage all aspects of communication-specific project plans to ensure successful execution of all required deliverables. Identify and address project-related issues promptly, working with the project team to find solutions to keep the project on track.
- Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders including the Cloud Transformation Deputy CIO and Cloud Security Engineer (and teams) to identify and develop strategies and content to champion and improve cloud awareness.
- Oversee technical aspects of cloud-focused projects, including the design, implementation, and integration of communication-specific solutions. Collaborate with technical teams to address technical challenges and ensure the successful deployment of systems.
- Actively participate in organizational and industry working groups to ensure cutting edge perspective on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in cloud technologies; continuously seek opportunities to improve related project Specialist processes and methodologies.
- Maintain a customer-centric approach, ensuring that cloud-focused projects and communication solutions meet the needs and expectations of end-users and customers.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline or the equivalent combination of education and previous relevant experience.
- Broad experience and proficiency leveraging and developing communications focused on project Specialist methodologies, including the ability to develop project plans, set milestones, allocate resources, develop and deliver various forms of business content (website, training, communications) and manage project tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey cloud-focused content, project updates, and requirements to stakeholders, Specialist, and customers.
- A customer-centric approach to ensure that cloud communication solutions meet the needs and expectations of end-users and clients.
