Pratt & Whitney’s Mechanical Systems, Externals and Nacelles (MSEN) department is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Principal Project Engineer to take on challenges in support of our ECU (Engine Core Upgrade) Team.
What You Will Do:
- Oversee and coordinate design and analysis efforts supporting detail design and part definition finalization.
- Ensure risk analysis and gap closure plans are in place to address module and part level issues.
- Understanding & deriving verification & validation requirements, developing & managing verification & validation strategies/plans at the Module and Part level.
- Provide module level and part level Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT) support during test article assembly, instrumentation process and during the test program.
- Identify validation testing and product risks and monitor execution of burndown plans.
- Travel: 10% required (Domestic)
What You Will Learn:
- Experience the leading edge in aerospace, where you’ll be pushing the limits of what our materials and designs can accomplish.
- Learn what new technologies are required to push the capabilities of our engines, and work hand in hand to developed those technologies.
- Gain experience working in concept design and detail design, developing hardware designs for future production needs.
- Gain experience working in Agile and utilizing the Agile framework process to iterate fast, and accelerate our design process.
- Experience working early on with manufacturing suppliers to optimize designs, while reducing cost and weight.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 8 years of engineering experience; or an Advanced Degree in Engineering and 5 years of engineering experience.

Qualifications We Prefer:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or Equivalent.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in working across functions, organizations.

Department/Segment Overview: The Mechanical Systems, Externals, & Nacelles (MSEN) Engineering department is responsible for the design, development and in service support of power transmission systems, bearing compartment and rotor support design and analysis, oil and thermal management systems, engine externals packaging and architecture, as well as nacelles for commercial and military engine models. Technical disciplines include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Product Definition, System Modeling, Mechanical Design analysis for bearings gears and seals, and fluid-thermal modeling of associated components and systems.
