Position Summary

Reporting to the Law Library Associate Dean, this position is responsible for the operation, planning, management, assessment, budgeting and delivery of library services to the law school faculty and students. The incumbent will engage in, promote, and provide support for scholarly and curricular activities for School faculty and students.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement goals, deliverables, strategic and assessment objectives to increase the Library’s impact on research, teaching and learning outcomes of the School through direct engagement with faculty and students.
  • Develop and implement goals, deliverables, strategic and assessment objectives to ensure that faculty and students have a subject librarian expert who supports their research, teaching and learning needs.
  • Stay connected with research and teaching output of the school by developing relationships with faculty, students, and staff.  Ensure effective use of school and University resources to support research and teaching.
  • Manage workflow and work product of faculty research support services, ensuring effective communication, support, and delivery of materials; access to e-resources.
  • Complete extensive, in-depth, expert legal, non-legal, and bibliographic research for law faculty, consulting with faculty to determine their needs, delegating research assignments to other members of the library’s research services based on independent judgement.
  • Oversee acquisition, establishment and access to electronic resources to maximize benefit to faculty scholarship and student success. Includes supervision of vendor coordination, resolution of access issues, improving discovery and negotiation and licensing of online resources; participates in strategic planning for collections.
  • Mentor, provide guidance and evaluate the work performance of professional and para-professional staff within the unit.
  • Teach ABA required legal research course to law students; other duties as assigned.
  • Oversees the unit’s budget, spending and reporting to best align resource spending to faculty scholarship and student success.

Salary Range

$75,200.00 - $128,800.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
