Open Rank Tenured or Tenure-Track Faculty Position & Director, PhARM (Pharmacy Addictions Research & Medicines) Program

The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy’s Division of Health Outcomes is recruiting for a Tenured or Tenure-Track Open Rank faculty member who will also serve as Director and PI for the PhARM Program.

The PhARM program addresses systemic barriers, inequities, and stigma related to evidence-based use disorder treatment and harm-reduction intervention. The future Director will be an integral leader of these efforts, ensuring innovative research, education, resources and engagement from people with lived experience, health professionals, paraprofessionals, academics, and community members. The College is seeking a motivated and innovative faculty member to lead this research and educational programming that facilitates each patient or community member's ability to achieve optimal health, well-being, recovery, and choice. The Director is responsible for advancing scientific discovery and implementation, education, and collaborations with other UT System academic collaborators, community organizations, federal/state/local agencies, and partners. Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. and/or Pharm.D. with strong academic credentials and have a distinguished record of research, teaching, and service sufficient to be appointed as a tenured or tenure-stream in the College of Pharmacy at The University of Texas at Austin, including career-stage appropriate funding, excellence in teaching, and student mentorship. Preferred candidates will have earned a Pharm.D. degree from an ACPE accredited program plus a Ph.D. degree or evidence of equivalent research experience. The candidate will be expected to compete for independent and collaborative funding from public and private sources in support of their research program, and following a start-up period, be able to support a minimum of 25% of their annual salary from extramural funding awards. Applicants wishing to be considered for appointment as an Associate Professor must have evidence of sustained extramural funding and a strong publication track record as a Principal Investigator equivalent with awarding of tenure at The University of Texas at Austin, College of Pharmacy. The director is expected to develop and sustain a research program with extramural funding as well as assume leadership of the College’s PhARM program.

Required Skills & Responsibilities:

• Significant leadership experience in research and/or higher education.
• Expertise in one or more of the following areas: comparative effectiveness research, substance use disorder treatment/prevention/intervention, health services research, implementation science applications in health care, behavioral aspects of medication use, general health outcomes, health care policy, pharmacoepidemiology, population health, public health, healthcare communication, health economics, strategic and financial planning or leadership, and human resources management.
• Commitment to teaching in the curricular programs of the school and responsibility for mentoring and supervising students and post-graduate learners.
• Demonstrated success in leading large groups through team building, communication, and accountability for academic and scientific achievement.
• Commitment to develop meaningful collaborations with other researchers within the College of Pharmacy, Dell Medical School, and other schools and organizations.
• Demonstrate commitment to our school's mission to provide exemplary education, training, research, and professional development for Pharm.D. students, graduate students, and postgraduates in the pharmaceutical sciences; to advance discovery, innovation, and patient care; and to provide service to the university, professional and scientific communities, and society.

Preferred Qualifications:

• An outstanding track record of expertise as shown by extramural funding, publications, mentoring, engagement, and leadership in pharmacy, public health, epidemiology, substance use disorder, or health services research or related fields (candidates with other backgrounds and experiences will be considered).
