About The Opportunity: 

The Director of Brand and Content will be responsible for ensuring editorial excellence and consistency across WES communications and at events. You will also hold responsibility for brand coherence across visual products. You will build and socialize strategic narratives that enable all audiences to understand the full range of WES initiatives and impact and will play a critical role in strengthening and protecting the WES brand. You will manage a team of creatives, leading and developing them to work as an effective, integrated and innovative team to meet the needs of the organization and further the WES brand, mission and impact.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Oversee all content creation and corporate collateral for WES, aligning with our strategic and influence priorities across WES This includes production of WES’ annual report.
  • Develop, implement, and manage an annual internal communications strategy and plan that seeks to inform, influence, and engage our people, fostering a sense of trust, collaboration, and alignment with WES. Develop and manage a centralized communications knowledge and asset management framework ensuring timely information is shared and use of our knowledge and assets is optimized and maximized.
  • In partnership with outsourced support, lead refinement of the WES brand. Ensure all creative assets align with the brand's visual identity, tone, and strategic communications goals.
  • Lead content strategy and editorial calendar for the Communications Division, directing creation of informative and engaging content and compelling narratives that aligns with our strategic and organizational priorities, resonates with our audiences, drives engagement, enhances WES’ brand, and is easy to read, navigate, and interact with on different platforms.
  • Lead and develop the team responsible for writing, design, copyediting, content creation, and event management so they operate as an integrated and effective unit and leverage their creative expertise to drive WES forward in compelling and inspiring ways, acting as thought partners, brand ambassadors, and influencers; and sourcing and managing external creative vendors as merited.
  • Set policy for and manage implementation of French translation to comply with legal requirements in Canada.
  • Work closely with the digital and growth marketing teams to ensure messaging and visual consistency.
  • Partner closely with other members of the communications leadership team to ensure alignment and clear understanding of requirements, context and priorities to ensure effective planning, management and delivery of activities and outputs.
  • Provide strategic counsel, guidance, and advice to colleagues on leveraging different communications approaches to realize business objectives.
  • Act as an advocate for strong brand governance and effective review and workflow protocols to deliver high-quality communications products and consistent messaging.
  • Team management to nurture and further develop talent; peer-to-peer communications support, and mentorship.

 

Your Experience:

The ideal candidate will have:

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • 5+ years of experience in progressively senior communications roles.
  • Proven ability to become a trusted advisor to business leaders and other influencers at all organizational levels, based on subject matter expertise and collaborative leadership style.
