Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our team. This person will ensure our systems are reliable, scalable, and highly available across our multi-datacenter and AWS cloud environments. Your expertise in designing, documenting, implementing, and troubleshooting platform and cloud technologies will support our existing datacenter implementation and ongoing cloud migration. The primary technologies engineered by this team are: Elastic Cloud, Kubernetes and EKS, Grafana, Kafka, Redis, ETCD, Hadoop, NiFi, and NGINX. This position is full-time and offers the flexibility of being fully remote.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Architect, design, document, and implement technology platforms across cloud and datacenter providers. 

• Monitor system performance and utilization to ensure availability and scalability. 

• Troubleshoot and resolve system-related issues promptly, using your experience across the entire technology stack and working with multiple internal teams. 

• Collaborate with other technology teams to integrate new technologies and support organizational projects and initiatives. 

• Engage development teams to optimize their use of our platforms; primarily kubernetes, kafka, and elastic search. 

• Conduct regular system audits, upgrades, and ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices. 

• Coach and train junior engineering staff in engineering best practices and the use of HLD, LLD, architecture diagrams, network diagrams, etc. 

• L3 support, rotation. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Min 10 years in a Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or Cloud Engineering profession.

• Minimum 5 years of:

  • Linux configuration and use (Oracle Linux or AWS Linux preferred). 

  • Container image creation and distribution and container management systems (kubernetes preferred). 

  • Scripting languages and automation (bash and python preferred). 

  • Configuration management tools for administering environments (Ansible/Terraform preferred).

  • Git source code management and IDE use. 

  • JIRA and (loosely) Agile methodologies.

• Ability  to be self sufficient when designing systems and troubleshooting.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

• Hands on experience with any of the following technologies:

  • Kubernetes 

  • Elastic Cloud 

  • Kafka 

  • AWS 

  • Redis 

  • Virtualized environments. (VMware highly preferred) 

  • Hadoop (Hortonworks) 

  • Grafana / Prometheus / Monitoring 

  • MySQL 

  • Container overlay networking (Cilium) 

  • Ingress controllers (Nginx preferred) 

  • ETCD
