Position Overview:
The Office of Nightlife is a dedicated liaison between the city government and New York City’s nightlife community of businesses, workers, performers, patrons, and residents. The Case Navigator at the Office of Nightlife, reporting to the Executive Director, will work to support nightlife businesses with compliance issues as observed by other City agencies through the CURE (Coordinating Unified Resolution with Establishments) initiative. CURE supports businesses with an education-first approach to quality-of-life issues and community complaints.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a database of casework, outreach, and communications intake done by Office of Nightlife staff for all CURE cases, maintaining detailed activity records to document and track communication with active and completed cases.
- Monitor the CURE request form for City agency referrals and conduct initial outreach to CURE-involved businesses to identify issues.
- Provide initial internal assessment within three business days of acquiring a case and communicate information that is relevant, accurate, clear, and thorough to the Executive Director.
- Work with other agency partners, including NYPD precinct officials, to engage nightlife establishments that have been observed as having an elevated level of incidents and community complaints to engage in the CURE process.
- Liaise with appropriate City agency partners to respond to nightlife businesses’
compliance needs with education and support as necessary.
- Research cases as comprehensively as needed, in order to thoroughly understand the concerns raised and the potential remedies.
- Provide a supportive client experience and timely client-focused case management for nightlife businesses engaged in the CURE process as well as other nightlife businesses that contact the Office of Nightlife seeking assistance.
- Schedule and participate in constituent meetings with nightlife establishments, agency partners, and community partners as needed.
- Coordinate with SBS outreach on events and community/industry engagement.
Preferred Skills:
- Enthusiasm about the mission of the Office of Nightlife able to engage with detail-level enforcement agency staff and nightlife business operators in a professional, responsive, and organized manner.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, fast paced environment managing multiple time-sensitive projects.
- Experience in relationships of nightlife industry, working with nightlife industry, experience working with small businesses.
- Understand city and state agency regulatory processes and personnel.
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of four (4) years’ work experience in government, advocacy, public policy, public administration, or a related field.
- Master’s degree with a minimum of two (2) years’ relevant work experience.
- Experience with data management systems such as customer relations management (CRM) is preferred.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
