The Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) Artificial Intelligence (AI) team is looking for Summer 2026 interns. The ideal candidate is passionate about a broad range of projects from research & development to prototype development, culminating in deployment of our products to customers. We are on the cutting edge, inserting AI into defense systems, delivered through our AI Factory in partnership with our lines of business. The successful candidate will have beginner experience in areas like: software engineering, DevOps, artificial intelligence and machine learning (ML). Key responsibilities include: creative ML work, software development & containerization, display & database integration, high performance compute environments, partnering with the peer engineering organizations and chief engineer offices, customer focused work & deployment to the edge, while working with a close knit team. This role is based on Manassas, VA with telecommuting flexibility depending on program needs. Basic Qualifications

- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering and Information, Sciences and Technology, or STEM related degree from an accredited college.
- Demonstrated potential to work in a team environment.
- Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Desired skills

- Prior Coursework in computer science, data science and/or machine learning
- Beginner experience with Python, Cuda, DevSecOps
- Coursework or project experience with object-oriented programming and code optimization
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
