The Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementation and evaluating care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, and coordination of care with other health team members. Job Description:The Colorectal Center at Primary Children’s Hospital provides coordinated care for infant, children, and teens with Hirschsprung’s Disease, Imperforate Anus, and Constipation. We are seeking a highly motivated Registered Nurse (RN) who will be responsible for the coordination of care for the pediatric colorectal patient. The RN is a key member of the multidisciplinary team who provides individual patient education, care management, and coordination of services across the continuum of care. This role is responsible for the clinic aspects of the patient including, but not limited to education, patient care coordination, research, data management, and program development.Job Duties:• Coordinate medical, surgical, psychosocial, and nutrition evaluation and on-going care needs of pediatric Colorectal Center patients• Function as part of the multidisciplinary team; communicate patient needs to Colorectal Center team members.• Provide pediatric age-specific care and interventions.•Assess, plan, and advocate for the patient and families in coordination of care along the continuum with the Colorectal Center team, support personnel, community physicians, and outside agencies.•Provide accurate and timely documentation of care.•Demonstrate ability to independently make complex care decisions within established protocols.•Use critical thinking skills through the process, and involve the patient, family, physicians and the multidisciplinary team to establish and update the plan of care appropriately.•Participate in quality monitoring and process improvement activities and programs.•Participate in on-going education specific to colorectal care through attendance at professional meetings, webinars, and literature review•Serve as a pathfinder and clinical expert by participating in, coordinating, and implementing Colorectal Center program initiatives while monitoring and ensuring effective outcomes.Shift: part time: 35 hours, Monday-Friday, no weekends or holidays, daytime, no callBenefits Yes

Minimum Qualifications

Current RN License in state of practice.

Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- and -
Practice specific certification as required by the clinical setting in which they work (i.e., ACLS, PALS, etc.).

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Basic computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications
One or more years of RN work experience

Pediatric RN inpatient or clinic RN work experience
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
