About the role

Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Process Consultant, to serve as Subject matter Expert (SME) in the design of new processes and bioderived chemical processes and to manage these projects through the initial phases. 

This position provides process leadership on chemicals projects but also has a strong influence in the overall development and execution in a project’s full life cycle. In this position, the Senior Process Consultant provides process engineering expertise from conceptual studies, feasibility analysis, construction grade scope and estimates, detailed design, start-up, system optimization, and trouble-shooting. 

This position requires project management skills in growing business relationships, supporting planning for new opportunities, preparing and pricing proposals, as well as executing multiple projects as the project manager. 

This position will be based in the Atlanta, Georgia or Greenville, South Carolina areas, and remote work is possible for the right candidate.

  • Serve a Subject matter Expert (SME) in the design of a minimum of one in the following process areas: chemicals, biochemicals, biofuels and related industrial products.
  • Assess new technologies and their readiness to proceed toward commercialization
  • Scaleup and Conceptual Engineering, as well as support of piloting facilities. 
  • Estimating leadership:  CapEx and OpEx support and proformas. 
  • Lead the chemical process design on projects or a team of process engineers on larger engineering projects and provide direction and coordination to other disciplines as the process lead.
  • Support project proposal efforts by developing a process scope of work and process man-hour estimate in support of the defined Client scope.  Develop staffing plan and schedule to support the man-hour estimate and schedule.
  • Develop and/or oversee production of engineering reports, studies, calculations, PFD’s, P&ID’s, GA’s, equipment specifications/data sheets, and review/approval of vendor submittals.
  • Assure quality of design documents and process deliverables.
  • Manage projects within budget and schedule constraints by interacting with Clients, team members and management to resolve project roadblocks.
  • Participate and provide leadership in Client and project team meetings to establish project objectives and coordinate and/or resolve design problems.

  • The successful candidate will have 5 - 30 years of experience  
  • Experience in the Consulting Industry is preferred
  • Experience working in the chemicals, and biochemical industry
  • A degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited school
  • Professional Engineering License is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication is critical for this position
  • Ability to work and excel in team environments is critical for this position
