About the Team:
We have a Global IP Legal team with more than 100 counsels distributed in China, U.S., Singapore and other jurisdictions, covering patent, trademark, copyright, open-source software and IP enforcement.

We are looking for a Senior Patent counsel to provide advice and counsel on U.S. patent law and work closely with our U.S. based tech teams and product teams, to design and conduct patent planning, handle patent mining, supervise U.S. outside counsel for patent prosecution, and review patent assets.

This position provides candidates with a unique opportunity to be part of a growing global legal team and collaborate with our elite engineers, business teams, risk & compliance, financial and policy teams on cutting-edge patent issues critical to protecting our fantastic products and innovations in a fast-paced and ever-evolving environment.

Responsibilities
- Engage with one or more U.S. tech and product teams, deliver patent training, harvest patentable ideas and conduct patent review according to company patent guidelines
- Design and complete annual patent filing plans for the tech and product teams according to the company patent strategy
- Supervise the patent work performed by outside counsel and guide outside counsel to better understand company products and innovations
- Lead 3rd party consultant teams to perform patent analysis projects, submit patent intelligence report to tech and product teams as well as to company management
- Provide U.S. patent legal opinions to tech engineers, business teams, product teams and other legal teams regarding patent risks, patent licenses, and patent transactions
- Assist U.S. Litigation team on patent analysis when needed
- Be a member of the global patent strategy-design team, contribute U.S. best practices in patent prosecution and administration to team members in other jurisdictions
- Be open to changes and new opportunities

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- Experience at a top law firm and/or in-house legal department, including extensive experience in harvesting, prosecuting, and managing patents.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
- USPTO registration, Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Excellent drafting, and organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize multiple urgent projects.
- Strategic thinker with a pragmatic, creative, risk-based approach to problem-solving.
- Experience working collaboratively and cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment, with tight turn-around times and deadlines.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, flexible, self-starting, hard-working, with a tolerance for working across multiple time zones.

Preferred Qualifications
- Technical background in the Internet, AI, cloud computing, data center industry, and relevant techs, knowledge of large language models would be preferred.
