Job Description

The Insights and Decision Science (IDS) team is dedicated to enabling improved decision-making at Novartis by leveraging data and advanced analytics capabilities to generate actionable insights that drive business growth. We collaborate closely with the US business, bringing insights and challenging ideas to empower smarter, data-driven decision-making. Reporting to the Director of Emerging Data Products, this role is pivotal in advancing our mission to transform patient care through data-driven strategies.

As the Associate Director of Emerging Data Products, you will be at the forefront of integrating novel data technologies and methodologies into our business processes. By aligning with the broader goals of the IDS team, you will ensure that our data products not only meet current needs but also anticipate future challenges and opportunities. Your work will support the IDS mission of driving impactful insights and fostering a culture of innovation, enabling Novartis to remain a leader in the pharmaceutical industry. Through collaboration and strategic execution, you will help transform data into a powerful asset that propels our business forward.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute the development and application of frameworks to identify, evaluate, and scale novel concepts that enhance business outcomes through emerging technologies, data collection, data engineering, and AI-driven insights

  • Directly introduce and apply established industry products and methodologies to Novartis US, ensuring they improve decision-making capabilities

  • Actively participate in cross-functional teams to assess feasibility, validate use cases, and drive the adoption of emerging solutions

  • Work hands-on with external vendors and technology partners to explore and integrate innovative tools and data ensuring compliance and performance

  • Continuously track industry trends and advancements, collaborating with IDS teams to incorporate new technologies and approaches

  • Track product adoption, measure impact, and refine strategies based on feedback and business performance metrics

  • Ensure smooth onboarding, training, and communication for stakeholders using new technologies and solutions through direct involvement

  • Implement strategies and innovative approaches for identifying and treating underdiagnosed or untreated patient populations, ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals and industry trends

  • Conduct analysis of NVS-procured data sources (e.g., claims data, lab/biomarker testing, EHR data, Mx/Rx data) to identify eligible patients and new patient growth opportunities from underdiagnosed and likely-to-switch patient populations

  • Actively mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement through direct engagement

  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional collaboration efforts, ensuring effective communication and partnership with IPST, TA portfolio teams, IDS stakeholders (like Personalize and Precision Health, Data Partnerships), and additional NVS teams (CE and Medical team)

Novartis is seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to drive patient finding initiatives, leveraging data analytics and insights to identify underdiagnosed or untreated patient populations. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical landscape, with expertise in applying advanced methodologies from varied data sources to uncover patient growth opportunities and optimize treatment strategies. This role requires a leader who excels in fostering collaboration across cross-functional teams, developing talent, and cultivating a culture of innovation. The AD will establish a robust framework for delivering actionable insights through secondary data analytics, empowering strategic initiatives and enhancing patient care.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field is required; Master of Science and/or MBA strongly preferred

Essential Requirements:

  • 6-8 years of experience in data products and AI / ML, ideally in the pharma/life science industry

  • Extensive experience in data analytics, data engineering, or a related field, preferably within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.

  • Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing data-driven solutions that drive business outcomes.

  • Strong understanding of emerging data technologies, AI, and machine learning methodologies.
