DESCRIPTION
Legislative Duties -
- Help prepare legislative proposals, substantive issues and bill language with input from field, program office staff and leadership.
- Track progress of bills and amendments, prepare updates for Child and Family Well-Being staff and complete end of session overview of bills of interest.
- Ensure timely preparation and processing of all Legislatively Mandated Reports that fall under Child and Family Well-Being's purview.
- Develop and coordinate Implementation Plans for legislation that passed.
Budget Liaison -
- Work with Office of Child and Family Well-Being (OCFW) staff to develop Legislative Budget Requests and budget reduction plans, as needed.
Plans and Reports –
- Collaborates with various areas of OCFW to gather information and data
- Assists all division leadership of OCFW with tracking timelines and due dates for federal reports
- Drafts and finalizes reports using the information and data gathered
- This is a professional position in the Office of Child and Family Well-Being (OCFW) requiring careful time management and initiative to plan and execute all federal reporting.
- Coordinate preparation the Long-Range Program Report to include ensuring accuracy and timeliness of submission.
- Coordinate preparation and processing of the Child and Family Services Plan (Department plan) every five years.
- Coordinate preparation and processing of the Annual Progress and Services Report annually
- Writing and editing of responses to federal report requests in a clear and concise manner
- Communicates with federal liaisons on status of reports as well as answering questions about reports once submitted
- Works proactively in order to meet deadlines while allowing time for internal analysis of reports
REQUIREMENTS
This position requires strong written and oral communication skills, time management skills, knowledge of the federal reporting, knowledge of the Department policies, and the ability to work collaboratively to coordinate information from various sources into one response.

Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in communications, public policy, social work or English, or related area of study from an accredited college or university required.
Work Experience Requirements:
At minimum, 2 years’ experience in communications, public policy, social work or English with preference given to work specifically with Florida Statutes and Federal Child Welfare regulations.
Strong written and oral Communication Skills.
Knowledge of the legislative process.
Knowledge of the budget process.
Ability to coordinate information from various sources into one response.
Software Proficiency:
Microsoft Office suite of programs
