Mt. Bachelor strives to deliver Central Oregon’s most memorable outdoor adventures to locals and out-of-town visitors on a year-round basis. Mt. Bachelor’s 365 days of fun includes 4,300 acres of lift-accessible terrain for skiing and snowboarding, Woodward Mountain Parks, a world-class Nordic Center, summer and fall downhill biking in the Mt. Bachelor Bike Park, Sun Country Tours (white water rafting), hiking, Sunset Dinners, Zip-Touring and chairlift-accessible sightseeing.
Position Summary
The driver’s main responsibility is to provide transportation for guests and staff to our various river systems. Drivers may be asked to drive buses, transporters, vans, trucks, and bicycles. Depending on the specific trip location, drivers must follow trips and take photos, set up lunch and shuttle vehicles. At the end of a trip, drivers collect gear, help guides load equipment if needed, and drive guests back to the trip origination location. Drivers provide information regarding products we sell, services we offer, and regional information, including natural history and local offerings. We encourage our drivers to communicate with our staff and guests and to make each day a fun experience. Safe driving and workplace practices are a high priority.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities
Vehicle pre-trip inspection / clean as necessary / report mechanical issues to the manager.
Safely drive guests to launch points.
At Upper Deschutes (Big Eddy) location:
Direct guests to the launch point and make sure all guests have been handed off to their guides.
Shuttle guide vehicle and bus to the take-out location.
At McKenzie/Lower Deschutes locations:
Ensuring that guests’ food is accounted for and transported properly for day trips.
Taking photos.
Assisting with lunch set up and put away.
Assist guides with equipment distribution.
Providing information to guests about products we sell, services we offer, and the regional information including natural history.
Clean and fuel vehicle at end of day
Secondary Function
Clean the shop area.
Assist with equipment pre-and post-trip.
Provide input on areas for improvement.
Assist when asked to help in any area of Sun Country Tours Operations.
Interpersonal Contacts
Applicants must be able to work in a group environment both within the department and also the company as a whole. The Driver must have strong guest service and communication skills in order to develop a relationship with guests and co-workers.
Specific Job Skills
License/Certifications: Class B CDL with passenger and airbrake endorsement, First Aid/CPR.
Technical: Basic knowledge of vehicles for inspection and reporting.
Physical Capabilities: Can be outside in all weather conditions. Must be physically capable of assisting guides and other staff with equipment. Must be able to lift, carry, and move 50 pounds.
Additional: Able to ride a bike on trails.
Education/Related Experience
Minimum Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum Age: 25+

While performing the duties of this role, the employee will be required to bend, reach, climb, lift over 50 pounds, push, pull, utilize hand/eye coordination, visually concentrate on equipment, and be exposed to outdoor conditions.
