We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Machine Learning and Machine Vision Engineer to lead projects in the development and deployment of innovative ML and MV solutions across the organization that support Duracell’s Automation Master Plan. This role will be critical in shaping the company's technological future by supporting the rollout of cutting-edge capabilities that improve efficiency, enable automation, and enhance product and process intelligence.
This is a hands-on role that demands a blend of strong technical expertise in the areas of vision, data collection and analysis, PLC logic and communication programming, machine learning model training and other real time control aspects on the plant floor. You will be instrumental in executing innovative solutions, while fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Technical Oversight
- Guide the design, development, and deployment of machine learning models and machine vision systems.
- Ensure best practices in data science, computer vision, MLOps, and model evaluation are followed.
- Drive the transition of prototypes into scalable, production-ready solutions.
Innovation Rollout
- Work alongside our Controls and Industrial Technology teams to integrate solutions into existing manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize opportunities for ML/MV innovation.
- Lead the technical execution of strategic initiatives that leverage machine learning and vision technologies.
- Support change management and training efforts related to new tool and system rollouts.
Project Management
- Define project scopes, timelines, and deliverables aligned with business goals.
- Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders and leadership.
- Coordinate with IT, product, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of ML/MV solutions.
Qualifications:

- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or related field (PhD a plus)
- 5+ years of experience in machine learning and/or machine vision development
- Strong understanding of camera hardware, frame grabbers, lensing, lighting, and optical systems for industrial imaging applications.
- Strong understanding of supervised/unsupervised learning, deep learning, CNNs, object detection, image segmentation, etc.
- Hands-on experience with ML/MV frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenCV, scikit-learn)
- Familiarity with MLOps tools and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Experience deploying models into production and managing lifecycle
- Excellent written/oral communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Able to translate technical challenges and opportunities for non-technical peers.
- Prior experience driving innovation initiatives from concept to rollout
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in manufacturing, robotics, logistics, or industrial automation
- Experience developing solutions in programming languages such in python, .NET, and/or C++
- Experience with automated controls technologies is not required but would be a bonus. This could include PLC systems, control and communication networks, SCADA (server and standalone) systems, PC based Integration software systems, VFD and servo drives, Robotics, vision systems, program and parameter-based instrumentation and other advanced sensor technologies. Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP and ProfiNET.
Travel:
- This position involves 10-25%, or more, travel (domestic and potentially international) as needed to successfully deliver the key responsibilities.
