Security Officer and Senior Security Officer at Providence St. Vincent's Medical Center- Full-Time, Night Schedule

This is a combined posting for an Senior Security Officer and Security Officer. The requirements of each role are listed below under each associated title. Receives general direction from the Security Manager, Supervisor or Lead Security Officer. Performs a variety of intermediate level technical security protective duties to protect patients, visitors, staff, physicians, property and facilities from accidents, bodily harm, fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.  Enforces PH&S, facility and security policies and regulations.  

Receives general direction from the Security Manager, Supervisor or Lead Security Officer, performs a variety of security protective duties to protect patients, visitors, staff, physicians, property and facilities from accidents, bodily harm, fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.  Enforces PH&S, facility and security policies and regulations.  Investigate reports of potential criminal conduct against PH&S staff, visitors, staff, and property; respond and assist in restraining patients; detain individuals when necessary or at the direction of a police officer; and provide protective services to high risk areas.

Senior Security Officer

Required Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training: Successful completion of one of the following: 
    •  Certified law enforcement academy, such as corrections, police, reserve or military police, or completion of certified military training. or
    •  Healthcare Security Officer Advanced or Supervisor Certification through IAHSS.
  • Coursework/Training: Successful completion of 5 additional FEMA Emergency Management Institute Courses from Security Services Approved Course List.
  • Upon hire: Oregon Private Security Armed/Unarmed Professional - Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training, or
  • Upon hire: Oregon Private Security Unarmed Professional - Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training, or
  • Upon hire: Oregon Private Security Temporary Work Permit 
  • Driving may be necessary as part of this role. Caregivers are required to comply with all state laws and requirements for driving. Caregivers will be expected to provide proof of driver license and auto insurance upon request. See policy for additional information.
  • 3 years experience in security or law enforcement in lieu of associates degree
  • Experience using personal computer with standard Microsoft applications.
