The Department of Ophthalmology and the Center for Community Outreach and Policy at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA are seeking a full-time, junior to mid-level Ophthalmologist to support both the UCLA Mobile Eye Clinic and Department-based clinical services. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide comprehensive ophthalmologic care across a variety of settings while supporting UCLA Health’s mission to expand access to vision care throughout Los Angeles.

The Center for Community Outreach and Policy provides essential vision services to children and adults in underserved communities across Los Angeles County and surrounding areas. This position is designed for physicians who are passionate about community-based care and are interested in delivering meaningful clinical impact through both outreach and traditional clinical practice.

This individual will:

  • Provide professional ophthalmic services, including vision screenings, exams, and refractions in community-based settings such as schools, health fairs, and homeless shelters, as well as within UCLA clinic locations
  • Deliver comprehensive eye exams and refractions for both pediatric and adult patients across diverse care environments
  • Assist with ordering prescription eyeglasses for pediatric and adult vision programs
  • Serve as a clinical resource to staff by answering questions related to exams and refractions
  • Collaborate with residents and fellows from the Stein Eye Institute and participate in teaching medical students, undergraduate students, and volunteers
  • Engage with patients, families, educators, and community partners to address vision-related questions and support ongoing care
  • Travel to and work across multiple outreach and clinical locations throughout Los Angeles and surrounding counties
  • Maintain a full-time clinical schedule, providing patient care five days per week
  • Participate in monthly departmental meetings
