School Summary
Iowa Connections Academy (IACA) is a tuition-free, full-time virtual public school for students in grades K-12 throughout Iowa. The school operates in partnership with the CAM Community School District in Anita, IA. IACA is accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement, an accrediting division of AdvancED.
Position Summary:
Accepting applications for the 2025-2026 school year. Working from the office in Anita, IA the Assistant Principal will assist the Principal in managing the overall school operation including teachers as they use the phone and Internet to consult regularly with learning coaches and students, ensuring that each child successfully completes his/her instructional program. Additionally, this individual will work closely with key centralized service centers including Enrollment, Technical Support, Materials Management, Fulfillment, Finance, Human Resources, Payroll and Facilities Management. It is also anticipated that this individual will manage a range of special projects.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the implementation of the proven Connections Academy curriculum and school operation protocols;
- Ensure that teachers exhibit and maintain a high level of professionalism, instructional support and customer service;
- Ensure the academic success of individual students by utilizing all levels of academic support available and by maintaining a high level of communication with parents to deliver program information and address individual student needs;
- Assist teaching staff with implementing any program changes and/or new software application introductions;
- Exhibit high quality communication with all Connections Academy school staff, students and families;
- Handle student problems escalated by parents and teachers;
- Establish effective communication with students, parents, and staff regarding attendance, academic achievement, citizenship, family relationships and other routine interactions
- Resolve student discipline problems, administer the Student Code of Conduct, and maintains student discipline records.
- Assist with implementation and coordination of state standardized testing process, and ensure high student participation rates;
- Provide assistance to families in need of additional support encourage a high level of participation;
- Participate in student recruitment efforts including in-state school events trips, presentations, Q & A sessions and responding to the press;
- Communicate with parent Community Coordinators to suggest social activities and relevant field trips for students;
- Attend most voluntary school events
- Devise and implement virtual methods of creating and maintaining a “school community”;
- Participate as a member of the School Leadership Team and contribute ideas and recommendations as to the support the direction of the district, school, and company;
- Oversee school’s special education department, serve as LEA at special education-related meetings, facilitate special education meetings and open enrollment reviews, establish quality control procedures to maximize full compliance with federal and state special education rules and regulations
- Attend all district Board of Education meetings, as requested, to support Principal and/or Superintendent of Schools
- Recruit, supervise and conduct evaluations of staff as required by the state;
- Be available to handle all emergencies; and
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience. Minimum of 3-5 years of educational experience
- Iowa license required PK-1212 Principal/PK-12 Special Education Director
- Previous school administrative and/or special education leadership experience required
- Master’s, or advanced degree, in school administration required
- Must be able to use a personal electronic device and an email address for two-step authentication.

- Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast paced environment
- Experience with online and/or blended learning environments
- Technologically proficient (especially with Microsoft Office products)
- Knowledge of district’s and school’s current goals, objectives, and teaching strategies
- Excellent human relations, verbal and written communications skills, including ability to make presentations.
- Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
