POSITION TITLE: Kettle Office Assistant

OUTCOMES
To assist the Volunteer & Community Relations Manager in recruiting volunteer bell ringers for the Crystal Lake Corps Christmas effort. To ensure the kettle office runs smoothly and to contribute to the success of the kettle campaign.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answer the phone and make calls to book volunteer bell ringers.
- Greet volunteer bell ringers, distribute kettle supplies to the bell ringers and accept kettles upon their return. Log in the returned kettles upon their return.
- Help troubleshoot problems that arise. Inform the Corps Officer or Volunteer & Community Relations Manager of issues that need to be dealt with.
- Respond to urgent situations, including traveling to kettle locations to troubleshoot when needed.
- Handle Kettle Fund Deposits in accordance with Salvation Army guidelines, ensuring accuracy and security of funds.
- Ensure the daily route sheets are printed and distributed to the Corps Officer or Volunteer & Community Relations Manager.
- Daily input of all kettle numbers into the kettle spreadsheet. Post the kettle totals for the bell ringers to see.
- Kettle driver as needed.
- Participate in the Donation Inventory as assigned.
- Oversee all other office duties as assigned
- Manage TipTap machines at kettle spots. If troubleshooting is needed, communicate promptly with the Corps Officer and Headquarters to resolve the issue.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Under general supervision of the Corps Officers and the Volunteer & Community Relations Manager, with some freedom to plan, schedule and carry out responsibilities within established polices and guidelines.
This individual relates to and interacts with a wide range of contacts both within and outside the Salvation Army. In these contacts, they act as a representative of the Army and its mission.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
This individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved, as well as the timeliness, accuracy and completeness of accomplishing assigned goals.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of a High School degree.
- At least three years of work and/or educational experience in the human service field preferred.
- Pass TSA MVR check.
COMPETENCIES
- Experienced in computer program word as well as spreadsheets.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to use initiative and be a self-starter.
- An attention to detail.
- Able to responsibly handle money.
- A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible in light of changing job situations/priorities.
- Supportive of the mission of The Salvation Army.
POSITION LIMITATIONS
- This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved.
- This individual will keep the Corps Officers/Volunteer & Community Relations Manager informed on all critical issues relating to their area of responsibility.
- This individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.
