Geocgi is looking for Senior Geospatial Application Developer to support our client, Department of Homeland Security, DHS, in the Washington D.C. area. The candidate will be responsible for the design, development and maintenance of geospatial applications critical to DHS Operations. This is a hybrid position with occasional onsite presence required.

Key Responsibilities:

•    Develops, enhances, and maintains geospatial software applications, including user interfaces, workflows, and application programming interfaces (APIs), to meet operational requirements.

•    Utilizes industry-standard programming languages such as C++, Python, and others to support new development efforts and maintenance of existing DHS geospatial solutions.

•    Leads and manages the application development team by providing technical direction, mentoring, and oversight to ensure adherence to software development best practices and project timelines.

•    Coordinates with infrastructure, security, and other program team members to ensure applications meet DHS IT policies, security standards, and performance criteria.

•    Oversees software development lifecycle activities, including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance of applications.

•    Implements quality assurance processes such as code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration to ensure software reliability and maintainability.

•    Monitors emerging technologies and recommends improvements to development methodologies and toolsets to enhance application effectiveness.

The following are requirements of the Senior Geospatial Application Developer:

•    U.S. Citizen. with ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

•    6 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or 4 years of experience with a Master’s degree.

•    Demonstrated expertise in software development with substantial experience in C++, Python, JavaScript, or comparable languages. 

•    Proven expertise in ETL and API integrations.

•    Comprehensive knowledge of software development principles and practices, including object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms.

•    Strong communication and collaboration skills in a team environment.

•    Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

The annual base salary range for this position is anticipated to be $90,000-$120,000 USD. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position.
