Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support our finance team with both tax compliance and general accounting duties. This role will take ownership of business licenses, sales tax filings, property tax schedules, and maintaining customer tax exemption certificates. In addition, the position will assist with standard accounting functions such as reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close support.


Key Responsibilities
• Tax Compliance & Filings
◦ Prepare and file business license renewals and maintain compliance calendars.
◦ Prepare and submit sales and use tax returns (monthly, quarterly, and annual) ensuring accuracy and timely filings.
◦ Maintain property tax schedules and process payments to taxing authorities.
◦ Respond to notices and assist with state/local tax audits.
• Customer Tax Exemption Certificates
◦ Collect, validate, and maintain sales tax exemption certificates from customers.
◦ Ensure certificates are current and properly stored for audit purposes.
◦ Communicate with customers and sales teams to resolve certificate issues.
• General Accounting Support
◦ Assist with journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals related to tax and operating expenses.
◦ Support month-end and year-end close processes.
◦ Maintain organized tax and accounting records for compliance and reporting.
◦ Provide ad hoc support to senior accountants and the controller as needed.
• Educational Requirements:
◦ Associate's degree Required; bachelor's degree Preferred

Required Qualifications:
◦ Solid computer skills and data entry abilities
◦ General knowledge of ERP systems
◦ Efficiency using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel
◦ Data Entry experience preferred
◦ Strong attention to detail
◦ Deadline driven with the ability to multi-task
◦ Analytical mind-set
◦ Ability to identify issues and propose improvements; keen problem solving skills
◦ Ability to contribute as an individual as well as a team-member
◦ Demonstrated effective listening skills
