The Manufacturing Strategy and Integration team of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a Manager Project Management 3 to lead the sector’s Manufacturing Process & Skills Development team. This team will develop manufacturing skills from shop floor personnel through professional engineers including onboarding, training and continuous improvement. In this role, the manager will conduct needs and skills gap analysis, oversee content design or procurement and enhanced training for touch labor, strengthen the onboarding and skills development experience for new manufacturing employees and deploy our Contunious Improvement Playbook in our manufacturing cells.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop and coordinate integrated strategy to ensure our entire manufacturing team is skilled to execute next generation products.
  • Oversee touch labor skills development strategy across all Mission Systems sites ensuring workforce is ready to meet future product needs.
  • Implement platform-based training for key technology areas.
  • Partner with local organizations and institutions to provide educational augmentation to skills development and enhanced advanced skills training.
  • Enhance the professional manufacturing talent onboarding process to optimize employee experience and retention. 
  • Implement framework for professional development in key manufacturing competencies such as Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Operations Program Management from early career through subject matter expert.
  • Organize/manage Manufacturing Communities of Practice for knowledge sharing and mentorship.
  • Drive a culture of lean and continuous improvement (CI) by supporting implementation of the CI Playbook across the sector.
  • Identify and leverage best practices in manufacturing talent development from industry.
  • Oversee certification and qualification practices for manufacturing hires.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years training or engineering management experience
  • Understanding of adult learning paradigms and experience with adult learning content development
  • Experience managing teams responsible for talent development
  • Experience leading teams remotely
  • Experience developing and deploying talent development strategies across large organizations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience implementing continuous improvement projects across large organizations

MANUMS

Salary Range: $147,500.00 - $221,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
