Tank Trailer Technician Level 1
Job Summary:
The Level 1 Tank Trailer Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the integrity and safety of our food-grade tank trailers. Under the supervision of experienced technicians this position is responsible for basic maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs of our specialized tank trailers.
Essential Job Functions:
• Conduct routine inspections to ensure the cleanliness and integrity of food-grade tank
trailers.
• Conduct inspections to ensure all Mechanical, Electrical, and Attachment
systems are in accordance with DOT and WDT requirements.
• Assist in the cleaning and sanitization of tank interiors following industry standards.
• Perform basic maintenance tasks such as brake adjustments, tire changes, and lighting
repairs.
• Assist senior technicians in making minor repairs and adjustments.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and cleaning activities.
• Comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines and federal and state regulations at all times.
• Use diagnostic tools, hand tools, and specialized equipment.
• Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventative maintenance; and calling for repairs.
• Travel within designated region for service calls and temporary roadside maintenance
• Participate in training programs to develop technical skills.
• Other duties as assigned
Skills/Education/Knowledge/Experience/Abilities
Required:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s license in state of residency with acceptable driving record.
• Must be able to pass Department of Transportation alcohol and drug screen.
• Basic understanding of food-grade tank trailer components and systems.
• Willingness to learn and work as part of a team.
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the highest quality and work standards.
• Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in varying environmental conditions.
• Ability to work any schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to read and understand technical service manuals.
Preferred:
• Vocational or Technical training in diesel mechanics, welding, or a related field
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
• 1 year related experience
