We are seeking a Senior Product Marketing Manager for Upwork Labs, a rapid experimentation and incubation team, focused on 0-to-1 efforts that seek to have a profound impact on our customers and drive a step-change function in our business. We’re looking for someone who is well-versed in working with a cross-functional team to quickly build new prototypes, fail fast, iterate, and eventually drive growth and adoption of new products.
Your Responsibilities:
- Champion the voice of customer, expert in customer market insights, mastermind of positioning and messaging, enabler of sales, accelerator of adoption, developer of the go-to-market strategy, and remover of blockers.
- Champion the customer by advocating for research and insights, leveraging data and insights to help drive strategy, and contributing to the product development lifecycle including early definition stages.
- Own the intersection of Product & Marketing, serving as the two-way conduit and “Communicator-in-Chief” between the departments, ensuring high degrees of transparency and fluidity of information at all times
- Develop and establish deeply collaborative cross-functional partnerships with leaders and colleagues across Product, Sales, Design, Customer Support, Community, and Marketing to enable the team and drive a consistent customer experience.
- Conduct in-market message testing to optimize our messaging strategy.
- Educate buyers through narrative and content.
- Guide and educate existing customers through product messaging and promotion.
- Drive growth and adoption through go-to-market strategies and actions.
- Contribute to Upwork Labs product development lifecycle including early definition stages.
- Optimize the Upwork Labs product launch process.
- Gather competitive insights.
What it takes to catch our eye:
- Senior experience as a product marketing manager
- Ability to analyze and use data to make clear, concrete go-to-market decisions
- Demonstrable achievement in driving product growth and adoption
- Experience in product marketing at early-stage startups and/or larger tech companies, with a proven track record of launching successful products and features
- Background working in a rapid experimentation / incubation environment, with a strong focus on customer-centric product development is a plus
- Experience working with emerging technologies and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools, platforms, and methodologies
- Entrepreneurial, with a passion for innovation, a willingness to take risks, and the drive to experiment with new ideas
- Experience with products that deliver customer value through AI-enabled features is a plus
The annual base salary for this position in California and Washington ranges from $123,000 - $189,000. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salary for this position in California and Washington, and individual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, this position is eligible for the annual bonus plan or sales incentive plan and eligibility to participate in our long term equity incentive program.
