Role overview
As a Staff Accountant with a focus on accounts payable (AP) and accrued expenses, you will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring timely processing of invoices and expense reports. You will work closely with the finance team to manage the AP function and ensure that all accrued expenses are accurately recorded and reported.
A day in the life…
Oversee the company's accounts payable function, including the review and coding of invoices, data entry, and payment processing
Reconcile AP sub-ledgers to the general ledger.
Monitor and resolve discrepancies related to vendor invoices and payments.
Maintain vendor relationships and handle inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
Prepare and record journal entries for accrued expenses, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
Perform monthly account reconciliations for AP and accrued expense accounts.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including the preparation of supporting schedules and documentation of assigned controls
Implement and maintain processes and procedures which verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data, all of which are necessary to maintain a secure control environment.
Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounting department.
Process annual forms 1099
Assist with audits and tax filings
Assist with external audit and Sarbanes–Oxley Act (SOX) requests on quarterly and annual basis
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
What we are looking for…
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience
Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel (experience with Coupa is preferred)
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
