We are searching for a Program Specialist to support the Office of Human Subjects Research Protections (OHSRP), Office of Intramural Research (OIR), Office of the Director (OD), National Institutes of Health (NIH). This is a Part-Time Hybrid position located in Bethesda, MD.

What You Will Do:

  • Manage and plan travel for directors in OHSRP, and staff members.
  • Provide solutions to questions and concerns regarding travel and lodging logistics.
  • Manage government furnished property for staff and work with IT when technical issues arise.
  • Process license reimbursement packages for OHSRP staff.
  • Update/maintain calendars for Director of OHSRP and Director of IRB Operations, and assist with scheduling for other directors.
  • Update/maintain shared calendars for use of entire office.
  • Answer OHSRP phone lines and direct callers to appropriate team/person. Have knowledge of OHSRP programs and initiatives to be able to answer questions independently.
  • Place orders in POTS and do receiving.
  • Maintain and utilize various administrative databases, such as Sunflower and ITAS.
  • Onboard and offboard OHSRP staff.
  • Organize OHSRP in person meetings.


What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience
  • Has an interest in human subjects research protections.
  • Knowledge of NIH travel and administrative systems.
  • Experience managing a calendar.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail.
  • Must be a team player and flexible in duties and tasks assigned.
  • Must have resilient personality with strong social skills to deal effectively and persuasively with all levels of the organization.
  • Must have flexibility to be able to work less or more hours within a given week, depending on need.


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Minimum of one (1) years of NIH related experience.
