Location: Ashland, KY, United States

Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

1. Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures.
2. Preventative maintenance shredder downstream equipment, including but not limited to: lubrication of drive trains and moving components, repair and replacement of consumable parts related to systems of conveyance.
3. Be able to inspect, determine, and safely remove nonconforming items from shredder conveyor to meet consumer specifications (primarily nonferrous metal and/or debris).
4. Willing to cross-train in other positions and assist other employees as needed.
5. General labor duties that may include but not limited to sweeping, shoveling and general clean-up of any area and/or equipment throughout the yard.
6. Other duties as assigned by your manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Ability to work in a fast-paced, non-stop environment while providing excellent customer service.
2. Minimum of 1-year previous general labor in heavy manufacturing environments, preferably in the scrap metal or construction industries.
3. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
4. Ability to work standing or walking for up to 12 hours per day.
5. Ability to adapt to frequent changes of priority and complete job tasks safely and effectively without constant supervision.
6. Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
7. Flexible to work overtime in an industrial environment which includes being outdoors in all weather conditions.
