The Team:
Adult Mental Health Services South is part of Statewide Mental Health Services (SMHS) that provides care for Tasmanians experiencing mental health conditions, alcohol and drug challenges, and forensic or correctional health needs. SMHS includes six specialist areas: Adult Mental Health, Child and Youth Mental Health, Older Persons Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Services, Forensic Mental Health, and Correctional Primary Health Services. Services are delivered in both inpatient hospital settings and community-based programs, often in partnership with local organisations.
The business analyst is part of the Finance and Business Support (FBS) team that assists with the development and allocation of Adult Mental Health South budgets and external funding and monitor and report on financial performance throughout the financial year.
This position supports Adult Mental Health South management and cost centre managers to identify improvements in resource management, data capture and business processes. This includes providing advice, analysis and research in relation to the Adult Mental Health South budget, financial management, activity and business processes.
The Role:
- Prepare financial reports including monthly reports and Commonwealth/external party funding acquittals
on an accrual and cash basis, for a range of users. - Prepare performance reports incorporating human resource, service activity and financial information.
Advise Adult Mental Health South Management and service managers on appropriate actions to take to
achieve targets and provide support to implement. - Undertake in-depth analysis of business unit and cost centre performance, identifying key issues, trends and
variances. Provide advice and make recommendations to the Business Manager to implement agreed
strategies.
You will need:
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of financial, human resource and activity systems, accrual and cash accounting concepts and accounting procedures with experience in applying this understanding within business operational environments.
- Well-developed conceptual, analytical, creative and research skills, with an ability to clearly articulate the results, recommend actions to make improvements and the preparation of reports.
- Demonstrated high level attention to detail including in depth analysis of information with a focus on accuracy and quality.

Details of appointment:
Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $102,027 to $106,985 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
