With us, you will be in good company with a chance to make your mark on something bigger.
About this opportunity
Join Financial Crimes Compliance, New York - as our new Financial Crimes Compliance Officer focusing on transaction monitoring while having the opportunity to grow your career by assisting with other aspects of the Branch’s AML/CFT and sanctions compliance program. Here you will learn how all the pieces of a program link together.
Be a part of building a program on which the branch can develop future growth and where your ideas and experiences are valued.
We add value by challenging the status quo and seeking learning and understanding of industry best practices from a variety of sources. In turn, we seek to create a great experience working with business to enhance their understanding of the nature of financial crimes compliance and value it provides to building growth. As the Financial Crimes Compliance Officer, you will play a vital role in creating a trustworthy and valuable partnership with your Nordea New York Branch colleagues.
What you’ll be doing
Our new CO will focus on transaction monitoring at the case-level, researching and creating case investigations, escalations, and the preparation and filing of suspicious activity reports. The CO will report directly to the BSA Officer. The CO is expected to quickly become fluent in the essential work flow processes and branch risk and then seek to enhance the process through initiative and collaboration among peers.
You will become responsible for:
- Executing processes and procedures for case investigations, escalations, and the reviewing and filing of suspicious activity reports and providing feedback where processes can be enhanced.
- Monitoring of the quality of alerts that are not escalated into cases and providing feedback.
- Peer-reviewing work-product from the senior CO in the team.
- Assisting with the implementation of management information systems for transaction monitoring.
- Assisting alert-level staff in enhancing alert-level reviews, operations, and supporting documentation.
Additionally, you will contribute your talents to assist in the overall development of the AML/CFT and sanctions program and to help create a value-driven overall compliance program, including taking on additional responsibilities outside of transaction monitoring. This means you will need to be open-minded and ready to accept challenges. You will also be well structured, a strong communicator, attentive to detail, have a proven record in providing insights and feedback and collaborating for the further benefit of the team, the team's stakeholders and the bank.
Be prepared for the expectation of offering good ideas as well as executing and working hands on to see things through to completion. This role is based on-site in New York City with a current hybrid working schedule (employees may work from home up to 40% of the available working days each month).
Who you are
Collaboration. Ownership. Passion. Courage. These are the values that guides the team in being at our best – we imagine you share that vision with us.
To succeed in this role, we believe that you:
- Have a high work capacity, enjoy working with others, are a trusted colleague and have an interest in developing both yourself and the people around you.
- Thrive on building close and long-term relationships, acting with the bank’s best interest in mind.<
