POSITION SUMMARY:
The Research Assistant II will coordinate and implement subject recruitment, enrollment, follow-up, data collection, and study conduct. Responsibilities include identifying and screening research subjects, recruiting and maintaining follow-up of research subjects, tracking absent (lost to follow) subjects, explaining and acquiring signatures of subjects for informed consent documents, data collection, database entry (including, but not limited to, data entry, transcription of qualitative questionnaires and coding of qualitative data), and participation in study meetings and performing other administrative tasks in support of the clinical studies.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
ADMINISTRATIVE
- Participates in staff meetings/initiatives including appropriate quality improvement and education activities, or if unable to attend non-mandatory activities, accepts responsibility to review meeting minutes and becomes knowledgeable of issues discussed.
- Records and distributes minutes at research- and clinical-oriented meetings
- Uses reference database software (e.g., Reference Manager) to incorporate and edit references into grants and manuscripts
- Completes literature reviews · Supports coordination process of research grant submissions.
- Prepares narratives, budgets and tables as necessary
- Assists with preparation of manuscripts for publication and Reports
- Assists with reporting to NIH and other government agencies
- Maintains and updates Supervisors’ CV’s, bibliographies, and related documents Prepares presentations (PowerPoint) and posters for conferences Assists with preparation of Newsletter and Webpage content
- Helps to identify opportunities for process improvement. Examines processes in order to make systems more efficient
- Provides department with computer generated reports summarizing information. Performs data entry, develops statistical tables and formats. Creates and maintains databases
- Performs a variety of duties related to the maintenance of departmental databases.
- Prepares and assists in development of letters, reports, presentations, memos, forms, reports, and documents
- Assists with coordination and implementation of departmental program-related activities
- Helps to ensure that the programs run smoothly, efficiently and professionally on a daily basis
- Prepares items for mailing/UPS. Maintains a variety of departmental files
- Schedules meetings involving the director, departmental staff, and individuals from other agencies. Plans logistics for meetings. Prepares presentations, notices, agendas and reports related to specific projects
- Supports preparation and maintenance of Institutional Review Board (IRB) approvals and correspondence, with both the Boston Medical Center IRB, as well as the central IRB used for the multi-site trial, including amendments and renewals as necessary.
- Supports administrative aspects of the research study which may include managing program records and handling communication needs of the program.
OTHER
- Assists in data collection and provides feedback on study’s progress.
- Recruits subjects to participate in the study by using approved methodologies
- Schedules appointments of study participants; conducts reminder phone calls and/or sends mailouts.
- Reviews the data collection forms for each enrollee for completion and quality · Obtains and distributes participant reimbursements for participation.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in related discipline is required. Masters degree a plus.
- With a Master's Degree, no work experience is required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 1+ years of experience in research or clinical program activities required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology required.
- Experience with recruiting subjects, with an understanding of the ethical and technical conduct of research.
