Finishing Assistant

The Finishing Assistant will be responsible for aiding in the finishing department, with staining and painting completed jobs. They will be applying stains, paints, primer, and caulking to door sections and other garage door parts like doorstop and windows frames. This person will also be finish sanding doors and sections that are completed by the builders.

Essential Functions:

· Lifting and moving garage doors sections using team lifting methods (sections may weigh up to 250lbs)

· Handle being on your feet for up to 8 hours per working day

· Have general knowledge of carpentry skills (i.e., reading tape measure, use a sander)

· Distinguish between various types of wood or materials

· Caulk, prime, and stain doors

· Communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and managers

· Follow safety measures

· Read, understand, and follow instructions

Qualifications:

· High School Diploma

· Ability to handle finishing equipment (sprayers, sanders, brushes, and rollers)

· Ability to read a tape measure

· Ability to communicate effectively

· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals

Mental/Emotional Demands:

· Must be able to work with others as a team member

· Must be able to make deadlines

· Must take responsibility in being on time and consistent in their ability to be at work

Physical Demands:

· Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.

· Work in a hot or cold environment

· Be able to bend, squat and stand for extended periods of time without issue

· Walk around for extended periods of time

Work Environment:

· Must be able to perform in a non-climate-controlled environment

· Must be able to pass criminal background, drug screening and physical
