Role Description

Form Energy is hiring an experienced manager with process engineering experience to join our Cathode Engineering team. This team is responsible for developing and validating processes used for manufacturing gas diffusion electrodes (GDE) to be deployed in Form Energy’s commercial product. You will manage a sub-team based in Pennsylvania, made up of technicians and engineers who are focused initially on validation of the existing pilot process. You will lead your team to apply learnings from the initial pilot line to implementation in the Weirton, WV manufacturing facility. As we design, build, and ramp up equipment operations, expect to become deeply entrenched in the intersection space of equipment design, process engineering, and materials engineering, as the team works toward a common goal of manufacturing high performance electrodes, in high volume. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your strong process engineering background and leadership experience to develop a world class, fully automated process.

This opportunity is based out of Form Energy's Eighty Four, PA facility. Relocation assistance is available.

What you'll do:

  • Manage a team of engineers and technicians to develop our full scale electrode production process 

  • Partner with the battery design  team and manufacturing team to validate pilot line processes and use learnings to scale 

  • Champion documentation and improvements the process steps required to deliver electrodes capable of use in battery assembly and testing.

  • Aid in development of novel test methods to evaluate electrodes in real time during production.

  • Train technicians, process engineers, and scientists on new manufacturing equipment and processes.

  • Work teams inside and outside the company to achieve overall manufacturing success.

  • Be a champion for safety in the development of new equipment and processes.

What you'll bring:

  • 7+ years of experience in a pilot line or manufacturing NPI environment plus 2+ years in a managerial position.

  • Experience using statistical methods for making process development decisions.

  • Experience in the operation of solids blending, drying, and material or web handling equipment.

  • Experience with inline inspection and measurement systems.

  • Experience with QC testing and process validation.

  • Demonstrated track record of innovative development and engineering.

  • BS in Materials Science, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering or related degree 

  • Experience designing automated processes is a plus.
