About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Early Years, the Social Worker works as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team to provide a diverse range of support to families and reduce health inequities in the prenatal, postpartum and early childhood period. The Social Worker takes a person-centered and trauma and violence-informed care (TVIC) approach to perinatal mental health interventions such as screening, biopsychosocial assessment, education and brief intervention, and care planning to support perinatal mental health and wellbeing.
The Social Worker works to develop and enhance community relationships, holds knowledge of and collaborates with community partners and services. The Social Worker provides specialist consultation and support to multidisciplinary team members and holds integrated knowledge of the social, structural, emotional, psychological, and cultural determinants for well-being in the early years.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Master of Social Work (specialization in a community or perinatal mental health stream considered an asset)
- Registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Work required
- Two years of clinical experience providing independent assessment and treatment of mental health disorders
- Experience in a community mental health setting considered an asset
- Specialized knowledge of acute and persistent mental health disorders and concurrent disorders in the perinatal period an asset
- Knowledge of evidenced based interventions such as CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and risk assessment is an asset
