Job Summary of the Sr. Facilities Maintenance Technician

The Sr. Facilities Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing advanced-level maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of building systems, utility systems, and manufacturing equipment to ensure the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of facilities. This role requires a broad knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural systems, as well as the ability to lead or mentor junior maintenance staff. The Senior Mechanic works independently or as part of a team to diagnose complex issues, implement preventative maintenance programs, and respond to emergency repair needs. This position plays a critical role in maintaining compliance with safety regulations and supporting the operational needs of the organization in a highly regulated, cGMP environment.

Requirements of the Sr. Facilities Maintenance Technician

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, Associates Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience operating, repairing, and troubleshooting cGMP processing equipment and utilities or other equipment/systems.
  • Familiarity with building management systems

Responsibilities of the Sr. Facilities Maintenance Technician

The specific duties of the Sr. Facilities Maintenance Technician include but are not limited to:

  • Operates, troubleshoots, and repairs complex equipment with minimal supervision including: RODI & Purified Water, Purified water distribution skid, Clean
  • Steam, Clean Compressed Air, Autoclaves, Glass Washers, Compressed Gases, 80C Freezers, Incubators, ovens, Air Handlers (Both DX & Hydronic), HHW
  • Boilers, Chillers, Pumps, and Emergency Generators.
  • Interprets P&IDs, architectural drawings, equipment/system layouts, wiring diagrams, and specifications in planning and performing maintenance and repairs.
  • Participates in drafting/revising operational procedures, training documents, and maintenance procedures for various utility systems.
  • Provides responsive customer support with emphasis on customer satisfaction.
  • Performs startup, commissioning, and supports validation activities as required.
  • Works in a collaborative team environment and interacts with other support groups such as Engineering and Quality Assurance.
  • Walks down projects and develops a detailed list of materials.
  • Generates materials list and places a request for purchasing items.
  • Manages the Badge Access system and the Camera system.
  • Manages assigned projects from beginning to end.
  • Maintain gowning qualification for work activities in the cleanroom area.
  • Participates and schedules on-call rotations.
  • Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on manufacturing process-related equipment within and outside a cleanroom environment.
  • Completes and provides accurate documentation as required in cGMP operations.
  • Performs other duties as directed by management.
