Public Affairs and Communications

Supports and achieves Chevron’s goals by telling our story to key audiences to build an understanding of our industry and confidence in our knowledge, expertise and ability to achieve results the right way.

We are seeking a candidate(s) who can effectively create communications that engage external and internal audiences through media relations, social/digital media, and internal communications. 

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Support tasks related to corporate media relations, employee communications, executive communications, digital and social media engagement, events and brand management.

Government Affairs

Leads and influences policy development and advocacy on behalf of the corporation with key public stakeholders at the state, federal and international government levels.

We are seeking a candidate(s) with an awareness of the implications of the US political structure and environment in which the energy sector operates. Also seeking experience in international policy as well as an understanding of legislative and regulatory processes within the United States at the state and federal levels. Also seeking experience in international policy.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
Analyze policy/regulatory issues in countries where Chevron operates. Provide support on advocacy initiatives on Chevron’s positions before government, trade, and other third-party organizations. Track and report on key U.S. and foreign policy issues in specific regions. When directed, prepare responses to outside inquiries on Chevron's positions on issues, and attend briefings and congressional hearings on foreign and domestic policy, legislative, or regulatory matters. 

Business Unit Support

Provides support at the field level and acts as a bridge between the corporate center and business units with general knowledge of and the ability to work in all aspects of Corporate Affairs.

We are seeking a candidate(s) who displays a versatile skill set, including basic understanding of social investment and community engagement, awareness of the implications of politics on energy sector activities, and the ability to effectively create communications that engage external and internal audiences.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide support for development of strategic social investment, communications and policy strategies and their alignment with business plan goals and objectives.
  • Leverage social investment and social media to develop/maintain relationships with key stakeholders such as community, business and political leaders.
  • Support government affairs issues at local, state, and federal level in support of our business. 

Social Investment, Social Performance and Risk

Advances Chevron’s global business and corporate responsibility efforts by identifying and managing social investment opportunities, and public policy issues.

We are seeking a candidate(s) who shows a basic understanding of these areas and has strong research analysis and consulting skills.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Supporting strategic stakeholder engagement, social impact management, risk management and social investment consulting opportunities with the field and helping build social performance organizational capability.
  • Conducting research, tracking and analysis of current trends in corporate responsibility and public policy

To qualify, individuals must have or be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree aligned with our functional areas.

Corporate Affairs summer internships are typically located in the following locations:  Houston, Texas; Washington, D.C.; San Ramon, California; Salt Kale City, Utah; Covington, LA;

The anticipated salary range for this position is $23.08/hour  - $6,000/month.  The selected candidate’s compensation will be determined based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.
