Project Manager will support the transition of key prototype hardware and software from Aerospace to our Customers and commercial entities as a part of the product life-cycle management framework.  In this highly interactive position, you will be familiar with the product life cycle, develop strategies working as part of integrated team to implement those strategies. You will also work with technical experts and stakeholders from across the Enterprise, including legal, intellectual property, contracts, commercial development, and key technologists to develop technology transfer strategies, plan the implementation of those strategies and help shepherd technology solutions for successful transition.

What You’ll Be Doing

Technology Transfer is a key initiative for the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO). In this role, you will be supporting effort to harness the established processes, tools and mechanism used at Aerospace to support technology transfer as well as establish new pathways to fill the gaps in those processes. The goal for OCTO is to establish technology transfer from concept inception for prototype hardware and software; this requires a holistic approach to the product development life cycle and a strategy that lives with the project from concept design through first article delivery and beyond. This is a multi-faceted role that includes lots of personal interaction, learning new tools, supporting process implementation as well as outreach to industry for both best practices and creating relationships.

  • Working OPM technical staff as well as Commercial Systems Group (CSG) experts and leaders to help define the end-to-end technology transfer solution space.
  • Leading the development of strategic roadmaps and strategy development activities, accountable for documenting actions and follow-up on decisions/outcomes.
  • Leading interdisciplinary teams for strategy implementation, with ownership of project planning, milestone tracking, budget activities and schedule adherence
  • Support the establishment of an Aerospace corporate policy for technology transfer.
  • Researching and implementing best practices, developing, and driving execution of outreach plans, providing business and policy-related expertise to strategy discussions and decisions
  • Working as a team with CSG IP, commercialization and contracts experts as well as Corporate General Council staff to support successful technology transfer teams.

Work Model: This can be a hybrid or fully remote position.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (E.g., Business Management, Communications, Political Science, Marketing)
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills, preferably in process, procedure, policy and/or proposal or strategy development.
  • 10 or more years of relevant experience developing and implementing technology-related strategies, managing technical projects, and driving results with both technical and non-technical stakeholders; 8 years of relevant experience with master’s degree.
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • Advanced degree in a related discipline (See note above re: degree)
  • Knowledge and understanding of different contract types and their programmatic implications and requirements, for both Government and Commercial customers.
  • Demonstrated success in leading diverse, inter-disciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of business and operations processes at a Government contractor or FFRDC and proven successful experience working with those teams (commercial, supply chain, finance, contracts, export control, etc)
  • Experience working with a variety of Customers (DoD, Civil, Commercial)
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effectiv
