Job Description

We are seeking a  Senior VDI Administrator to join our team. As a VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) Subject Matter Expert, you will be responsible for the management, configuration, and optimization of virtual desktop environments across various vendors' platforms, including VMWare, Citrix, and Amazon. Your role will involve understanding and implementing best practices for VDI deployment, configuration, and administration to support testing scenarios and ensure optimal performance. Familiarity with vendor SDKs and APIs will be advantageous for this role.

Responsibilities:

VDI Environment Management:

• Deploy, configure, and maintain virtual desktop environments using VMWare Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, and Amazon WorkSpaces.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to optimize VDI performance and user experience.
• Develop and implement disaster recovery strategies for VDI environments to ensure high availability and data protection.

Configuration and Administration:

• Configure virtual desktop pools, images, and policies to meet specific testing requirements and user needs.
• Manage user profiles, permissions, and access controls within the VDI environment.
• Implement security measures to protect VDI infrastructure and data integrity.

Vendor SDKs and APIs:

• Utilize vendor SDKs and APIs to automate tasks, streamline processes, and integrate VDI environments with other systems and applications.
• Stay updated on vendor APIs and SDK releases, and leverage new functionalities to enhance VDI capabilities.

Testing Scenarios:

• Collaborate with testing teams to understand requirements and provide VDI support for various testing scenarios, including software development, application compatibility, and performance testing.
• Create and manage test environments within VDI infrastructure, ensuring consistency and reliability for testing purposes.

VoIP and Streaming Audio Optimization:

• Apply specialized knowledge of VoIP and streaming audio optimization techniques to enhance audio performance and quality within virtual desktop environments.
• Work closely with network engineers and VoIP specialists to troubleshoot and resolve audio-related issues in VDI deployments.
   

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Extensive experience (5+ years) in designing, implementing, and managing VDI environments, preferably across multiple vendor platforms.
• In-depth knowledge of VMWare Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, and Amazon WorkSpaces.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, or similar languages.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, VLANs, and routing.
• Familiarity with vendor SDKs and APIs for VMWare, Citrix, and Amazon VDI platforms.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
• Experience with VoIP technologies and audio optimization in virtual desktop environments is highly desirable.
• Certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Citrix Certified Associate (CCA-V), or AWS Certified Solutions Architect are a plus.
