BWXT is currently seeking an NME Supervisor for its Lynchburg Technology Center in Virginia!

This position is responsible for supporting the Nuclear Materials Engineering (NME) group at the Lynchburg Technology Center. This group is one of 4 discrete laboratory operations within LTC, namely, Nuclear materials Engineering (NME), Radioisotope & Analytical Chemistry Laboratory (RACL), Nondestructive Evaluation & Inspection Systems (NDE&IS), and Metallurgical Laboratory (MET). This facility operates several radioactive facilities including a failure analysis laboratory, mechanical testing laboratory, machine shop, radiochemistry laboratory, nuclear counting laboratory, metals analysis laboratory, and four fuel-handling hot cells.

Job Description / Duties:

• Supervise NME technicians.
• Practices visible leadership on the floor providing technical and administrative oversight of work through observations and floor surveillance.
• Manages employee attendance, training, and performance.
• Schedules overtime as necessary to meet rush-job project deliverables.
• Oversee and assist with the operation of equipment for project specific work.
• Works closely with engineers to perform root cause analysis and to optimize existing product manufacturing. 
• Support installation, on-site testing, and maintenance of equipment.
• Review and compile project-specific data.
• Author and review work documents and procedures.
• Takes an active role in continuous improvement initiatives within their areas of responsibility.

 

Job Qualifications / Requirements:

• A minimum of a High School diploma is required. A United States ELT or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Must have a minimum of five (5) years of First Line Manager experience within the field or related area.
• Must have minimum of ten (10) years of related experience in the nuclear or manufacturing industries.
  • Experience in the following is preferred:
    • Contamination control
    • Glove box operations
    • Root cause and/or failure analysis
    • Laboratory operations
    • Operations with by-product and Special Nuclear Material
• Must demonstrate a willingness to learn new technologies and skills.
• Must be knowledgeable in identifying and addressing safety concerns.
• Must have good oral and written communication skills.
• Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.
