EMPLOYMENT PERIOD: January 16, 2025 to April 9, 2025

Number of weekly worked hours: 29 hours per week (maximum)

Rate of Pay: $21.50 hourly

OVERVIEW

The Office of Intergovernmental Affairs (OOIA) is seeking an intern during the 2025 Georgia Legislative session.  This is a great internship for students in Government, Political Science, Public Affairs/Administration and Law with passion for making a difference in the lives constituents in Georgia.  OOIA creates and maintains working relationships with state, federal and local government entities, bilateral chambers of commerce and international trade offices to maximize the City’s opportunities to impact public policy, increase revenues, and foster its growing stature as a global city. This strategy positions the City as a key player in trade and commerce, citizen diplomacy and intercultural understanding. 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

This role is laser-focused on City’s efforts to move Atlanta forward with our legislative partners at the State Capitol by observation, learning and supporting the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs by performing a variety of duties up to and including:

  • Participate in varied activities during the 2024 Georgia Legislative session 
  • Draft letters to constituents
  • Attend committee hearings
  • Write summary briefs
  • Research various issues for the staff
  • Assist with additional office duties assigned by the office staff

QUALIFICIATIONS

  • Basic knowledge of Georgia state government and legislative processes
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule of up to 40 hours a week between the months of January and April
  • Ability to quickly adapt to challenges and new requirements
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong writing and research skills
  • Knowledge of computer skills and assistive technology
  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced office environment with multiple deadlines
