Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

• Ensures maintenance of sterile technique.
• Scrubs on all surgical procedures.
• Initiates proper procedure for needle, sponge and instrument counts.
• Ensures proper care and handling of specimens.
• Initiates proper procedure for care and handling of medications on the sterile field.
• Ensures proper care and handling of equipment and instrumentation.
• Cleans O.R. Rooms between and after cases.
• Anticipates the needs of the surgeon during the procedure.
• Completes preparation and set-up in reasonable time.
• Assumes call coverage within 20 minutes travel time from hospital.

Education/Experience Required

• Graduate of an accredited program for Surgical Technologists or equivalency
• Possesses organizational and planning skills.
• Ability to concentrate and prioritize in distracting environment.
• Ability to work at a quick pace.
• Ability to work in surgical services environment.

Registration/Certification

• Certified Operating Room Technician.
• BLS Certification
• Associates Degree
