MUSCP - Advanced Practice Provider (APP - NP/PA)- Department of Dermatology

Job Description Summary

The successful applicant will be an Advanced Practice Provider interested in working full-time in the care of dermatology patients. The APP will join a busy practice that includes multiple Dermatology attending physicians and residents. The APP is a valued member of the care team and his/her primary responsibility is the management of basic diagnoses in dermatology patients. The APP works under the supervision of the physician team responsible for providing comprehensive care for patients with dermatology needs. The APP contributes to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, and provides leadership to the organization and profession. This position will require 12 – 18 months in the Charleston area for training followed by a permanent position at MUSC Health Tidelands in Murrells Inlet, SC.

Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: Monday-Friday, 8:00am- 5:00pm

Required Training and Experience    
 
Required Minimum Training: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN as noted below. 

• Physician Assistant 

or 

• APRN License Type/Certification:  

• FNP (Family NP): (birth to death) Stable chronic disease state management, primary care across the lifespan.) 

 

Preferred Experience: None  

 

Degree of Supervision  
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant will be assigned a Primary Supervising/Collaborating Physician employed by MUSC and will report directly to this physician. 

 

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations 

All certifications must be current and complete prior to start date: 

Basic Life Support (BLS).  

If applicable, DHEC and DEA license applications must be started prior to first day.

Provides direct care to patients through the following activities: 

• Takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations 

• Evaluates and treats on the basis of history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results
