About the Role

The Sales Engineer is a customer-facing technical expert responsible for supporting Sales Managers in securing modular deployment opportunities across hyperscale and colocation data centers. This role combines engineering knowledge with commercial acumen to evaluate site conditions, interpret customer specifications, and develop modular steel structure solutions that meet performance, constructability, and speed-to-market requirements.

This individual ensures that proposed modular HACs, structural frames, pods, and integrated mechanical assemblies are technically sound, manufacturable, and aligned with customer program standards.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with Sales Managers from opportunity qualification through bid submission, offering technical insight and feasibility assessments.
  • Attend customer calls and onsite meetings to provide design guidance, assess manufacturability, and align modular strategies with customer timelines and site constraints.
  • Define modular architecture strategies (e.g., HAC structures, steel frames, mezzanines, containment) that meet customer requirements and site logistics.
  • Create concept designs, layout options, structural loading assumptions, and high-level BOM inputs to support quotations.
  • Evaluate constructability, lifting/rigging constraints, transport limits, and onsite installation considerations.
  • Ensure designs comply with structural codes, steel standards, load combinations, and customer specifications.
  • Work cross-functionally with Structural Engineering, R&D, and Manufacturing to validate weight, weld details, and modular interfaces.
  • Collaborate with Estimating to ensure accurate pricing based on modular fabrication, material costs, labor, and scope.
  • Deliver clear technical handover packages after bid award to engineering/project teams.
  • Monitor industry trends and hyperscale standards in modular construction, and share market and product feedback with R&D.

Additional Expectations

  • Travel frequently (30–50%) to customer sites, factories, and field installations for meetings, site assessments, and design reviews.
  • Represent the company as a technical authority with customers, clarifying manufacturing constraints, modular best practices, and structural limits.
  • Drive continuous improvement by contributing to design templates, modular design kits, and sales‑engineering tools.
  • Proactively identify customer pain‑points, market shifts, and competitive trends, and communicate those insights internally.
  • Act with a strong customer-first mindset, balancing technical feasibility with cost, delivery, and customer objectives.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Civil/Structural, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–7 years of experience in technical sales
