JOB SUMMARY You will play a pivotal role in Marriott’s future by building and applying key analytical models, production processes, and solutions to enhance data-driven methods and analytics for MARRIOTT MEDIA, Marriott’s fast-growing media network. As a data scientist, you will design, develop, and deploy programs, models, and ML/AI algorithms to efficiently analyze data and optimize decision making for the media team and MARRIOTT MEDIA partners.
- You will work on a cross-functional team to create and execute measurement methodologies and support ongoing analytical and measurement needs.
- You will be responsible for defining, implementing, and executing measurement methodologies to accurately capture and convey campaign impact.
- You will leverage effective communication skills to translate complex analyses into understandable insights. You are naturally curious and stay current on the MarTech/AdTech ecosystem, digital marketing, and media network landscape.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data engineering, and can transform complex data into actionable insights. A successful candidate will also possess a strong command of experimentation frameworks, marketing attribution, and causal inference models.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Education and Experience Required Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related quantitative field 5+ years of professional experience in data science, analytics, marketing analytics, or a related field
- Hands-on experience with SQL for data analysis and modeling is a must; additional experience with Python or R preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and causal inference techniques
- Deep knowledge of core measurement science concepts: experimentation and measurement frameworks (A/B testing, matched market, Marketing Mix Modeling, causal inferences, etc.), statistical sampling techniques and hypothesis testing, power analysis, synthetic control
- Strong experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI Familiarity with marketing attribution models, customer segmentation, identity resolution, and CRM platforms
- Experience in digital media advertising reporting and technology (including on/offsite advertising reporting, DSPs, ad serving/data technology, etc.)
- Proven ability to communicate complex findings clearly and concisely to non-technical stakeholders and executives
- Understanding of the principles of data quality management, Agile, data privacy and modern marketing best practices
- Excellent project management and verbal and written communication skills required, especially in the context of managing processes and delivering technical analysis across diverse stakeholder
- Education and Experience Preferred: Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field such as Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Economics
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
- Core Responsibilities Develop advanced statistical models and measurement methodologies to evaluate marketing effectiveness and campaign performance
- Regularly validate all MARRIOTT MEDIA measurement and campaign performance
- Devise and utilize algorithms and models to mine big data stores, perform data and error analysis, and clean and validate data for uniformity and accuracy
- Collaborate with Data Engineers to identify relevant data sources and ensure robust data pipelines for modeling and analytics Design and implement ML/AI algorithms and work with Data Engineers to apply algorithms to production
- Conduct deep-dive exploratory data analyses to uncover insights and opportunities for business optimization
- Translate complex modeling outcomes into clear, actionable insights for marketing, media, and partner stakeholders
- Develop testable hypotheses and design experiments to measure the incremental impact of marketing strategies
- Create reusable analytical tools, dashboards, and visualizations to enable data-driven decision-making across the organization
The pay range for this position is $47.30 to $72.21 per hour.
